Badotherm Diaphragm Seal Systems based in Zirconium - built to last...

Zirconium is considered the most superior material of all and used in the most challenging applications in the UREA production processes due to its excellent corrosion resistance properties.

Badotherm has been supplying zirconium-based diaphragm seal systems to many customers and with huge success. No failures occur due to corrosion and material remains in perfect condition. Zirconium is also very sustainable, since the body material can be easily re-used and therewith the complete system can be refurbished.

For one of our leading customers in the fertilizer industry in the Netherlands, we recently replaced several diaphragm seal measurements upgrading the wetted parts material in superduplex (F53) to zirconium. The plant, running under Stamicarbon license, was originally using a diaphragm seal system based on a Yokogawa EJA530E with a FSO-EXT diaphragm seal in Super Duplex 2507 (S32750), with size and rating 3″ 300# RF. Furthermore, the material needs to comply to strict requirements passing Streicher test as per IGC ASTM A262 practice B.

The customer upgraded to zirconium due to the excellent and unmatched corrosion resistance specifications. Whilst having the opportunity we also reduced the capillary length of the application to a more suitable length of 5 meter. Yokogawa EJA530E with a FSO-EXT diaphragm seal in Zirconium 702, with a extension length of 44.5mm and a diameter of 66mm. the diaphragm thickness of this execution is 125 microns.

Another application built to last a decade… at least!
