New Energies

As the world transitions towards sustainable energy solutions, Badotherm leverages its knowledge and innovative strength to help pioneers in the new energies field make their solutions a reality. Our commitment to sustainability and excellence drives us to create solutions that not only meet today’s growing energy demands but also pave the way for a greener future.

Small Modular Reactors (SMR)

Badotherm actively supports advancements in Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), including Molten Salt Reactors (MSRs), Sodium-Cooled Fast Reactors (SFRs), and Lead-Cooled Fast Reactors (LFRs). These reactors offer reliable, low-carbon electricity and high-temperature heat for industrial uses like hydrogen production and desalination. With extensive experience in supply in molten salt related applications, with typical operating temperatures between 525°C and 800°C, Badotherm provides diaphragm seal systems resistant to up to 850°C. Crafted from materials tailored to MSR needs, ensuring proven structural integrity from decades in petrochemical and industrial applications.

No more derived measurements with tubing, cooling pipes or other ways to cool down between the process temperature and the sensor, but a direct, accurate and reliable measurement straight on the process.

Thermal Energy Storage (TES)

Thermal Energy Storage (TES) is transforming renewable energy by addressing its intermittency and decarbonizing industrial heat, which accounts for 20% of global emissions. TES developers using molten salts as storage and transfer medium face challenges such as extreme temperatures, corrosion, and thermal cycling.

With molten salt technology, with typical operating temperatures between 525°C and 800°, Badotherm’s advanced diaphragm seal solutions help overcome these obstacles, ensuring precise and reliable pressure measurements and enabling them to deliver safe, efficient and durable systems.

Concentrated Solar Power (CSP)

For decades, concentrated Solar Power (CSP) has been critical in renewable energy production, using mirrors or lenses to focus sunlight and generate energy from heat. Molten salts, the core heat transfer medium in CSP, now operate at significantly higher temperatures in GEN3 systems compared to previous generations, improving efficiency and electricity output.

As CSP technology advances, Badotherm develops innovative diaphragm seal solutions to protect pressure measurements in these extreme conditions thereby delivering reliable pressure measurement solutions for molten salt systems at temperatures up to 850°C.

Hydrogen

Hydrogen is at the heart of many cutting-edge industrial and energy processes — from fuel cells and green hydrogen production to advanced chemical synthesis and long-term energy storage. However, hydrogen’s unique properties pose special challenges for pressure measurement systems such as diaphragm seal assemblies.

Hydrogen can cause embrittlement and permeation in many standard engineering materials. To combat these risks, Badotherm carefully selects high-performance materials for its diaphragm seal systems with excellent resistance to hydrogen effects.

Besides common material choices like high-alloy austenitic stainless steels, nickel-based alloys (e.g. alloy 625, alloy 825) a key solutions that protects against hydrogen permeation, is a layer of gold coating that avoid hydrogen permeate through the material.
