Marc in 't Veld

In this open-hearted interview, Marc talks about the many connections he has forged with customers over the years and how Badotherm’s success is build on the sense of togetherness the company radiates to the market.

Marc’s career at Badotherm has evolved over the course of more than 30 years. Marc worked his way up from warehouse assistant, order processor to experienced sales engineer. When we asked him what all those experiences gave him, he answered: “those roles have given me a complete picture of our business, which is just as much about superior products as it is about superior service and people!“

Marc is in daily contact with engineers in the petrochemical industry. He explains, “It is their responsibility to run the complex processes at those plants and I am helping them to do so.” He acts as an extension to the plant, taking measurement issues inside the Badotherm organization and taking ownership to find an appropriate solution. “It is my goal to be a colleague and a partner to my customers, not just a supplier of diaphragm seal technology.”

Marc comes across as an open personality that like to connect, puts himself in his customer’s shoes and enjoys social interactions. “I feel strongly connected to Badotherm, to its customers that I speak to on a daily basis and to my colleagues that almost feel like family”. To illustrate the strong bonds Marc forges, listen to this. When Marc was on sick leave for a longer period of time he received post cards from customer wishing him strength and a swift recovery. “That really was a heart-warming experience and underlined the significance of the relationships I build”.

We ask Marc if it is important that Badotherm is located closely to many of its customers. Although he agrees that geographical proximity is a plus he added: “for me being close means being ready and available for a customer, literally always.“

In his spare time Marc sits quietly at the waterfront waiting patiently for fish to bite. Although a hectic day at the office feels very different from the tranquillity at the water Marc sees some striking similarities “as a sport fisher I need to find the right combination of variables, i.e. floater, lead, depth, position in the water etc. “In my daily job I am constantly tuning into the application requirements of my customers, in order to design the perfect diaphragm seal solution.”

In a calm and warm tone, he explains; “There is a feeling of togetherness that we radiate to the market. Customers feel that they are not dealing with an anonymous company but with a team of dedicated individuals.”
