Rudi is a true Badotherm veteran with almost 40 years of experience, in instrumentation and diaphragm seal technology, under his belt. The first years he spent in Belgium with a local instrumentation and diaphragm seal company (Senpro) before joining Emerson for a couple of years. When he joined in 2000, he brought lots of subject knowledge to the company which he has broadened and deepened ever since.
We spoke to Rudi to better understand his passion for Badotherm’s products and how he defines his own role and relationship to Badotherm’s customers. “I have always had the privilege to contribute to the growth of the company and to create new innovations that make a difference for our customers” Rudi explains. He appreciates the short communication lines within the company, as this allows him to make decisions quickly. He adds, “I like the fact that we are a mid-sized, family owned company, with a long term perspective and in-depth gradual developments.”
As Global Projects Director Rudi travelled the globe to visit customers and build partnerships. His eyes light up when he speaks about the experiences he gained when travelling: “In my role I have to act in an everchanging landscape and interact with different cultures and personalities. “Despite the differences in culture there is one thing all our customers have in common. And that’s the need for experts that solve problems and answer complex questions”.
That is what I’ve always done, share my knowledge and create impactful solutions”.
Rudi is notorious for his extensive knowledge on diaphragm seals and willingness to share it with the market. He is one of the founding fathers of Badotherm’s Basecal application that contains a wealth of knowledge to design optimal diaphragm seal applications. “When engineered right, while taking the application conditions into account, diaphragm seals form the basis for a robust and accurate measurement solution”.
We speak to Rudi when his sits in his home office. On the backdrop displays an extensive guitar collection which reveals his music passion. When we ask Rudi if he sees any parallels between him as a project director and guitarist, he answers: “in both situations I am a perfectionist, as a guitarist I always want to hit the chord just right, at Badotherm I want my answers to a customer or a solution to a problem to be just right!”
At the end of the interview we take some time to reflect on the factors that sets Badotherm apart from others in the industry. With his characteristic directness Rudi explains, “it’s simple, if we can’t do it, nobody can. We are diaphragm seal specialists that ask more questions, give better advice and truly emphasize with our customer’s challenges. That’s it!”
