What is Safurex®?
Stamicarbon partnered with Sandvik in the 1990s on the development of Safurex®, a super duplex stainless steel specially designed to eliminate corrosion and ability to withstand harsh industrial conditions in fertilizer plants.. Combining high levels of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen, Safurex® has become widely recognized as a high-performance material, particularly suitable for the fertilizer industries (urea production). It continues to be a key component in numerous industrial processes.
Innovation by partnership
The innovation consortium comprising Badotherm, Stamicarbon, and Alleima worked collaboratively to develop an advanced diaphragm seal solution made from Safurex® material. This involved a series of key steps, including designing a thin Safurex® foil, developing precise welding procedures, certifying welding procedures and welders, conducting corrosion testing in an autoclave, and performing laboratory testing on welded, autoclaved samples.
Available products
Customers can now choose from several of our diaphragm seal types made from Safurex®, being our Blind Flange construction in BF-FSO or our EXT-FSO Extended type construction or any of the known UREA designs such as the lens type. These products are now available in full wetted parts of Safurex® material including the diaphragm, designed to deliver unparalleled performance in demanding applications. Furthermore, our team can develop custom replacement designs tailored to specific project requirements.
In addition to Safurex® diaphragm seal systems, Badotherm offer a wide variety of common used materials in the fertilizer industry such as AISI 316UG (UNS S31603), 25Cr-22Ni-2Mo Alloy (UNS S31050) and Zirconium 702 (UNS
R60702).
